| The spinal fixator K-Fixator is the universal system for reduction by means of instruments and stabilization of deformities and instabilities of the thoracic and lumbar spine. The constrained assembly at set angles is achieved by means of transpedicular fixation. The greatest advantage of the system is the three dimensional correction by means of the repository. The adaptors that connect screw and repository are used as lever arms. The reduction instument is outside of the situs and only the reducing arms are in the wound. This makes an unobscured approach possible during the reduction, in head position as well as for the explorationand fusion. The special feature of the K-Fixator pedicle screws is the connecting conus which is at 45 deg in regard to the axis of the screw. Thus the most advantageous, converging angle for the pedicle placement is supported. The axis of the conus faces upwards (top-loading) and makes all further steps easy. The conus makes the very high stability of the screw-connector possible. Therefore the screw is fixed to the rod in an optimal way and a high constrained connection at various angles is achieved. The necessity to use cross links is largely reduced due to the high rotation resistance of the rod-screw interface. Special sacral screws improve the sacral anchorage of the implants. The distance between the screws and the angle
between the K-Fixator pedicle screws may be freely determined according
to the anatomical requirements. Mono-and multisegmental instrumentations
are possible with the K-Fixator system. Indications:
